President's Message
Spring is here and our fiscal year 2002-2003 is almost over. I am proud of the accomplishments our group made this year in our effort to serve the membership of this chapter. I am very excited for the future of our chapter. Finding new volunteers to carry out the duties of the chapter is always difficult. We are very fortunate that the newly elected people who will carry on the business of the chapter are extremely capable with plenty of fresh ideas and the energy to carry them out. Congratulations to Jane Muranyi, Mark Rodriguez, Robert Zak, and Nick Stabile.
Our Regional Meeting hosted this year by the NYC Chapter on April 30 was a giant success. I witnessed firsthand the effort that Paul Roberts, our Regional Governor, expended to pull everything together. In fact the theme of the meeting should have been "a coming together" for a number of reasons. First, one of the great strengths of ASA is that we are multi-disciplinary and we were well represented there by appraisers of various specialties. Secondly, the meeting drew members from the NYC, Northern NJ, Long Island, and Hudson Valley Chapters, as well as members from Connecticut, a delegation from Binghamton, New York, and a Regional Governor (George Silver) from Vermont. The tour of Ellis Island reminded us how many came to this country and helped to make it great. Chairman Charles Gargano's excellent speech provided insight into how Lower Manhattan will be rebuilt. Our Chapter invited a New Jersey jeweler, who created a special plaque that was inspired by 9/11, and we helped him present it to Mr. Gargano on behalf of Governor Pataki for his great leadership role during that tragedy. In all, it seemed to bring us all together as Americans, if not as honorary New Yorkers for a day. (Read more about jeweler Stefano Simone and his WTC plaque.)

Our final monthly meeting will take place on May 14 at the Radisson Hotel in Fairfield NJ from 7:00PM. Also, we will present recent recommendations regarding our Mentoring Program that is designed to help candidates.
The Installation Dinner will take place on June 12 at the Manor in West Orange and I look forward to seeing everyone there. Invitations will soon be mailed and please RSVP to Jane Muranyi as soon as possible. I want to thank all members of the board for volunteering their time and for their hard work. And finally, thank you again Paul Roberts for keeping us financially viable. Please use the chapter website if you haven't already started. It keeps getting better everyday and helps us all to stay in touch.
